December 19, 2000 the telephone rings. It's The Lenawee Humane Society, they found 3 stray Golden Retriever Puppies roaming in the dead of Ohio's winter.
Having been on the waiting list for a "flunkie" for quite some time at this point, I didn't think my dream of owning my own dog would ever happen. Little did I know, that my Christmas Stocking was going to overflow that year!
Already weighing in at almost 30 lbs & 3 months old, these were 3 rambunctious puppies! The names just fit them to a T! Alvin, Simon & Theodore. But which one was going to be my pet dog, and which 2 were going to grow up being Service Dogs?
It wasn't long before their personalities really became obvious. Alvin, just like you would think, was a feisty, runt. Simon was even-keyed & very fun to be around, while Theodore was sweet & laid back.
Not too long after my little chipmunks arrived, Alvin got very sick. It was touch and go there for awhile, but he pulled through like a trooper! He knew there were big plans for him.
So Christmas came & went. My stocking was hanging full of toys to be had by one lucky pup.
December 27, 2000 The decision was finally made. I would be blessed by one sweet, laid-back dog.....THEO!!
Theo is dearly missed.....
