Winner!!!!! ARIEL The dog is half Alaskan Malamute (father was a pure breed) and then a ¼ lab and ¼ boxer (mother was half lab and half boxer). She is 5 years old. Her name is Ariel. I was at a shelter in Hillsdale that was overflowing with 80 cats all over the waiting room and extra cages in the garage with dogs in them because they were so overflowing with animals. This guy said he would just keep the puppies and I got his number and took Autumn over to pick out a puppy and they have been playmates since that day. Autumn got her when she was 6 and is 11 years old now. This was Autumn’s fist year in dog 4H and we had a lot of problems with the dog seeing her as the leader. They did take 3rd in agility, obedience and handling. Autumn really does want to learn more about training dogs and get better she would like the freestyle class after watching it on your site. I would like to see them get more training to make it better in competition and maybe do the state competition next year. The state 4H did have freestyle. My child loves working with animals and she lives for this dog so making it a better relationship and learning all she can would be great. |
KIPPER Kipper Pomeranian mix (is what we was told he looks like) and Kipper is 2 years old (estimated age) I found kipper and posted ads and never found his owner and fell in love with this dog so decided to just keep him. I found this dog running and took him in while trying to find his owner and then found out by a lady in my neighborhood that she seen a car come through and drop this dog off and my kids and I fell in love with this dog and decided to keep him but I am having a hard time with him, I can't get him to potty train and he is very hyper, if he gets off his chain he will climb fences and run away, We really want to keep him but I need to get him under control and right now can't afford to pay for classes for him but I think if I could maybe he can be trained and he really would be a great dog. Kipper is very loving and affectionate and everyone that has came in contact with him just loves him and thinks he is the cutest thing . Kipper now has a family that loves him very much and wants to give him a forever home but we just need a little help to help him be the best dog he can be!!!!! |
SASSY This is Sassy, she is a five month old Shih-Tzu, Havanese. We bought her June 1 from a privately owned pet store. My cute, happy, bouncy puppy and I should win the contest because she has proved to me over and over she refuses to be house broke. I take her outside and she goes potty but as soon as I bring her back in, she will stand right in front me and goes potty again. We have tried leaving her outside all day with food and water, we tried a crate, which is goes potty in and makes a huge mess, we tried puppy pads which she just shreds, we have even tried to fake grass, which got chewed up. My husband wants to get rid of her due to this, he has no patience, and i have all the patience in the world, and i have had it. please help us in this time of need! | Runner Up!!!! SOPHIE Hello, I am Nicole and my dogs name is Sophie. I rescued her from the Humane Society Serving Crawford County when she was about 3 months old and we've been inseparable ever since. She is an Australian Kelpie mix and will be 2 years old on Dec 12. Sophie was dropped off at the shelter in an over night box with her mom, two sisters and her brother and who knows what happened to her previously. All I know is that I was very blessed to find a dog like her. I lost my first dog a few years before I got Sophie and knew I wanted to rescue one after losing him. I searched petfinder for weeks and finally saw a puppy that stood out. I drove to the shelter the next day to look at her and as soon as I held her in my arms i knew she was mine. I adopted her that day and took home my best friend. I knew from the start she was special. She held her pee and poop over night from the time I brought her home and trained at an astonishing rate. (I trained her myself) She has the calmest demeanor you will ever see in a dog and absolutely loves children and elderly people! She also excels at agility and loves to track things. She is an all around great dog, but the reason for us wanting to win the contest is not for basic obedience. It's to get her into the therapy dog program. I cannot afford the cost of training classes, but I would love for her to become a therapy dog and pursue her love of people. When I see a little 3 year old child run up to her and pull her ears, grab her tail and roughly pet her while she just sits there tail wagging loving every minute of it. I know this is what she was meant to do. So please help Sophie and I pursue her dream!

SKITTLES Hi, my name is Mary and I think we have the winner of your contest. Her name is Skittles, she is a one year old husky that I took in from an abusive household. The previous owner kicked some of her teeth out and allowed his children to ride her like a pony and do other abusive actions toward her. I had dogs growing up but haven't had one since I had children of my own, but I just couldn't let this poor dog go back to such a terrible place so I took her in. It was supposed to be temporary, as I already have 4 children, and we all fell in love with her sweet nature but she needs some help in the training department! She's a great dog who just needs some direction. Please help our dog reach her full potential! Thanks | |
