Intro to Dog Sports and Fun Workshop: Start 2013 off with
some fun with your dog! This workshop will introduce you and your dog to
Targeting, Agility for Fun, Rally Obedience, and Scent Work. We will
teach your dog new skills, help your dog build confidence, as well as enhance
the relationship you have with your dog. Targeting uses the skill of
having your dog put his nose or paw onto objects to not only teach tricks, but
also to work at a distance. In the Agility portion we will introduce your dog to a few agility
obstacles, including jumps. Rally Obedience is a dog sport that involves
navigating a course of signs consisting of heeling and various behaviors. Scent Work allows your dog to use his/her natural hunting instinct to have fun
- no obedience skills necessary! You and your dog will get to try each of
the activities. This workshop can also help you decide on the next class
to take while having a Saturday morning having fun with other dogs and owners. Taught by Annie - Date/Time: TBA
- Pre-requisits: Your dog must have a good foundation of basic behaviors (sit, down, stay, recall) in a distracting environment. All dogs in class must meet our appropriate dog behavior criteria to join.

Before You Get Your Puppy: Are you really ready to take on the challenge of raising a puppy into a well-adjusted dog? Do you have the time, energy & funds to give this new family member what he needs? What are some of the things you will need to do & have in order to have the best success possible with a new puppy? Is everyone in the household on board with raising a puppy? What type of puppy will best fit into your life? In this workshop we will address these questions & more. The first part of the class will focus on if you are ready, who will do what puppy duties, what kind of puppy to get, where to get them & what to look for in a puppy. Our second half will focus on what you will need (toys, food, crates, vet etc) to raise a happy puppy. We will discuss training, socialization & common mistakes puppy owners make. Let's make the best choices for your family before making the plunge!

dog into your home within the last 30 days, this workshop is a great way to
start! Your trainer will discuss basic dog care, training, and get you
off to the right start. Additional lessons are available.

Game Night: Are you & your dog looking for a good time? Come out to our doggie game night for an hour of fun! Games will be divided into teams for more fun! We will be using the behaviors you & your dog have learned in our Beginner & beyond classes.
Each student will receive points at the end of the night that will be accumulated throughout the year. We will award prizes at our last game night of the y ear! Shaping Workshop: Teaching your dog to do tricks, or any other behavior can be done in a variety of ways. Here at Toledo Dog Training we use positive, motivational training. In this workshop we will introduce you & your dog to "shaping." This type of training allows your dog to offer behaviors & you reward specific ones that will lead to your ultimate goal. Intrigued? Tricks, Shaping & Luring Workshop: Just how do the trainers at
Sea World teach the dolphins to do flips & tricks? They aren't using leashes or force to do
it. Positive reinforcement of
course! Would you like to learn the
basics of positive reinforcement dog training, improve your relationship and
communication with your dog, and have a lot of fun doing it? Maybe you already have the basic concept
down, but you are a bit unsure about what to do with it. Then come to our one day seminar!
We will cover the concepts of
positive reinforcement, clicker training (using markers and rewards), luring
and shaping, to introduce you to the basics of teaching your dog new skills and
tricks. Seminar will include course
materials, a clicker, demonstrations, and time to practice with your own dog
with guidance from the trainer. Seminar
is limited to 8 participants so act fast to get in on this fun and informative

Shy Souls Workshop: Is your dog nervous, or skittish around other people, or dogs? Maybe he is anxious in general, around what you would think of as "normal" everyday life. Would you like a few suggestions on why he's like that? Are you looking for some tips on how to address his fears & help him relax and build up his confidence? This 1.5 hour workshop is your first step! We will teach you some simple, yet effective skills & coach you on how to start a confidence training program for your dog to help improve his coping ability. This workshop will equip you with a few new skills and ideas to help your dog thrive while strengthening the bond and trust between the two of you. However, just to be clear, this is a first step, not a cure to your dog's anxiety. We would of course love to work with you on a more in depth program on a private basis. - Workshop attended without dogs.
