• If you are a busy household and cannot make our scheduled group classes, private dog training lessons are offered. This is one-on-one training with you and/or your family. 
• If you are experiencing behavioral problems (excessive barking, separation anxiety, leadership struggles etc.) with your dog, behavior modification is required. This can be accomplished with private behavioral training.

Dog Training Consultation: The initial dog training consultation takes place in your home environment, or at our Holland Dog Training Center. It is essential to obtain accurate behavior & medical histories to formulate a treatment plan. We will send you a behavior profile prior to your first appointment. Please fill this profile out as accurately as possible, and send it back, prior to your first appointment. This is the information we start with to help diagnose your dog & determine an appropriate behavior & training program. This is the first step in starting Private Dog Training Lessons. 

After we receive your dog's profile your trainer will meet & discuss you & your dog's behavioral training program.  Plan a good 2-3 hours without any distractions. 

• Discuss your dog's behavior & medical history 
• Discuss your goals for your dog in detail
• Basics on how dogs learn & positive reinforcement 
• Outline a behavior & training program
• Clicker training is available 
• Handouts
• Dog training & behavior books & supplies may be recommended  
• Weekly homework pertaining to goals
• We will then set up our Private Dog Training Lessons-Minimum 3 Lessons.
  • Because of the demand of Toledo Dog Training's services, we have decided to only work with clients who are committed to their dog's training and behavioral health.  Therefore we only offer private instruction in training packages.  Multiple training sessions increase the likely hood of success & client's understanding of their dog and dog's behavior.  We feel there is no point in wasting any one's time if a client isn't prepared to work with their dog on a regular basis.
  • Exception:  Puppy Training Head Start Lesson & New Dog Head Start or if you sign up for a group class at Toledo Dog Training (prerequisites apply) 

Dog Training Lessons: After the initial Dog Training Consultation your customized training & behavior program for you and your dog (s) will be addressed.  Your trainer will work with you and your dog to address your needs and goals.  This is where your dog trainer will help you train & understand your dog and his behavior. Together you will work through basic commands, address behavioral issues and trouble shoot. 

Meeting weekly or bi-weekly for private dog training lessons where your trainer will coach you on how to handle your dog (s), through explanation, demonstration, and instruction is recommended. You will be provided handouts, weekly goals and suggested readings.  A minimum of 3 lessons (after dog training consult) to work at reaching your goals is required.  Private lessons can continue until you feel that you have a good working knowledge on how to handle and deal with your dog's specific behaviors you are working on.  Additional lessons may be recommended depend on you & your dog's commitment, behavioral issues & genetics. The goal is for you to understand your dog & how to prevent behavioral problems or to work with any problems he may currently have.  

Puppy Training Head Start Lesson:  If you have a puppy that is under 6 months of age, without any aggression issues, this one time lesson may be for you. Your trainer will discuss basic puppy care, training, and get you off to the right start.  Plan a good 2-3 hours without any distractions.  Additional lessons are available.

New Dog Head Start:  If you recently adopted a new dog within the last 3 months, this one time lesson may be for you.  Your trainer will discuss basic dog care, training, and get you off to the right start.  This is only available to dogs without any aggression issues (growling, guarding, biting, lunging) or extreme fears.  After we receive your dog's profile we will meet & discuss you & your dog's new life together.  Plan a good 2-3 hours without any distractions.  Additional lessons are available.
